Working with this library

Verified 2026-10-02 from official quick-start documentation and mui/base-ui README/LICENSE. Free MIT source, installed as @base-ui/react; all components are in a tree-shakable package. Compose component parts and apply plain CSS, CSS Modules, Tailwind or another styling layer. Official setup documents portal stacking context and an iOS Safari backdrop consideration. This is distinct from styled Material UI, and distinct from shadcn/ui which can build on it; no separate rebrand record was found in the live catalogue. Editorial: useful for teams owning visual design and seeking low-level composition rather than pre-styled screens. Upstream accessibility positioning does not replace testing the assembled application; this review did not perform a full accessibility audit.
