Material Design 3 — Compose-First — AI skill

When to use it

Use for a Jetpack Compose screen or app shell, mapping semantic roles to MaterialTheme and choosing adaptive navigation. Flutter is secondary; upstream documents web support as limited and without full Expressive parity. Keep SDK/BOM and experimental API versions aligned. This is a community synthesis, not official Google documentation or accessibility certification; audit scores are heuristic and specifications should be checked against primary platform docs. Not installed, executed or runtime-tested during discovery. GitHub stars are repository-wide, not a skill-specific rating.

Installation

Upstream current skills-CLI route: npx skills add hamen/material-3-skill --skill material-3. Keep skills/material-3/references/ alongside SKILL.md. Claude Code alternative: /plugin marketplace add hamen/material-3-skill then /plugin install material-3@material-3-skill. Do not use the superseded claude plugin install github: command.

Pair this skill with a visual reference

A skill guides how your agent works; a design reference shows the direction you want. Choose an example for a specific job, such as the headline hierarchy or form layout, and keep your project's existing design rules explicit.

Start with design references you can inspect, then use our guide to briefing an AI coding agent to turn observations into requirements. If you need implementation components, compare UI libraries for your stack.

These pages are public. Browsing a skill does not install it, and TastefulKit's design-reference MCP tools do not search the AI-skill directory.
