Charting Advisor — mthines — AI skill

When to use it

Supply the question, data shape and size, platform, design system and rendering constraints. Produces a primary chart/library recommendation, alternatives and integration guidance. Unlike a general visual-design critique, this focuses on stack, dataset and rendering trade-offs. Library defaults and size thresholds are heuristics, not benchmarks; validate current dependencies and performance with representative data. Cross-cutting typography, contrast and copy are delegated to companion skills. Upstream reviewed only; not installed or runtime-tested. GitHub stars are repository-wide, not skill-specific.

Installation

For a single skill in Claude Code, follow the upstream single-skill installation pattern: npx skills add https://github.com/mthines/agent-skills --skill charting --agent claude-code --yes. Invoke /charting. Keep the skill folder and its rules, references and templates together. The upstream README also documents full-repository installation; some workflows reference companion skills.

Pair this skill with a visual reference

A skill guides how your agent works; a design reference shows the direction you want. Choose an example for a specific job, such as the headline hierarchy or form layout, and keep your project's existing design rules explicit.

Start with design references you can inspect, then use our guide to briefing an AI coding agent to turn observations into requirements. If you need implementation components, compare UI libraries for your stack.

These pages are public. Browsing a skill does not install it, and TastefulKit's design-reference MCP tools do not search the AI-skill directory.
